Signing Off From The Ambassador

Tonight was the joyous culmination of Seven Bars in Seven Nights at The Ambassador! We were joined by foreign tourists, the nicest bouncer we've ever met, and a bachelor party during our glorious evening in the TL. Arguably, the best part of this high-volume dance venue was the ceiling - covered in a variety of crystal chandeliers. Random movies and music mashups set an entertaining and loud backdrop of our large party of dancers and escalating "yelling - match" conversationalists.

After some fancy drinks, fast dancing , and sticky souls we shuffled over to Rye. There the few remaining 7Bee-ers reminisced about the experiences of the present week, the past and hopes for the continuation of this annual tradition. Check out all the evening's photos here.

Cheers for next year!

Fore!!! (Or should it be "Seven!!"?)

birdies, eagles, and holes-in-one were in great supply at last night's 7B7N stopover at the Tee Off Bar & Grill.  (never mind that these photos more closely resemble Bloody Mary's, a spinach enchilada, and a pool table.)

tee times occurred at regular intervals as friends continued to roll up to this Outer Richmond locale throughout the night.  and only in San Francisco can you watch the Giants game in a ramshackle bar with astroturf flooring while eating a $38 porterhouse steak (or pulled pork in a waffle cone...YUMMY).

check out all the photos here.

we're looking forward to seeing EVERYONE (and yes, we mean YOU!) tonight for the final hurrah of 7B7N - 2012.  join us at The Ambassador at 9:00 pm!

7B7N - two nights to go!

two more nights of 7B7N - 2012 remain...which means it's time to put up or shut up!

here's the deal:

tonight (Friday) is all about The Tee Off Bar & Grill.
start time = 7:30 pm.
be there, or i'll sic Guy Fieri and his platinum blond spikes on you.

tomorrow (Saturday) is the weeklong fiesta's farewell at The Ambassador.
start time = 9:00 pm.  **note the later start time than previously advertised.**
be there, or i'll find a way to ensure that you can never silence the grating music that plays on The Ambassador's website.

There Ain't Nothing Neutral About It

Hi-Lo Club is one of those specially crafted vintage shit holes. It's made to look worn with artistic love and scrappy class. The interior is an ensemble of reclaimed wood, tin ceiling tiles and old-timey lighting. This is the perfect place to get lost in conversation with friends for the night or pass through for a delicious hand-crafted cocktail before high-tailing it to your next event. For EVERYONE who didn't attend, I mourn your loss of a wonderful evening....

Redemption can be yours tomorrow night at The Tee Off Bar and Grill... 7:30pm if you know whats good for you!

Don't Whine if You Didn't Make It to the Vine

After (not) much searching, 7B7N'ers found The Hidden Vine tonight and enjoyed their fair share of Viogniers, Syrahs, Malbecs, and more. While there were a few guests who had chips on their shoulders, most everyone got along and enjoyed the classy setting...except when things got tense during the boys v. girls bocce tourney (check out more photos here and see the girls on their way to victory!).

Join us tomorrow for our 7:30 pm meetup at the Hi-Lo Club!

P.S. Please note that this Saturday's stop at the Ambassador will begin at 9 pm rather than 7:30 pm!

Who's there? Noc Noc. Who's there who?

Yes, the social caravan, also known as 7B7N, made it's way down to the Lower Haight tonight to take over the cavernous, tribal/alien booze den otherwise known as Noc Noc.  Like the night previous, the 7b hounds accounted for the better part (literally and figuratively) of the patrons in the room, save for the good looking couple on Love Potion no. 9 who were joined at the face (it was only for this brief minute that we were able to sneak a photo and catch them in giggly conversation - the whole rest of the night they were making everyone in the bar strangely uncomfortable/aroused with their overt PDA).  But we digress...

With bracelets safely resting on wrists with their two other companions (that is, for those of us who were at days 1 and 2), we got to select from a wide selection of beers and other such "soft" liquors, with bonus points scored by Noc Noc for their culturally political "No Bud.  No Coors.  No PBR." declaration at the top of their menu.  How hipsters can come here and still look cool while not being able to sport their tallboys of PBR boggles the mind.  Some Mission residents have formed a task force and are looking into it.

What was looking particularly cool (other than all of us of course) was the decor.  If Frank Gehry and Paul Klee had a love child, who in turn started a bar (and if you did the math, it could be possible - also noting the bar was founded in 1986), you would have Noc Noc.  Hell, let's throw in some Tim Burton just for kicks...he'd be proud of the bar stools alone, a la something out of Beetlejuice.

To see Noc Noc is to appreciate it, and indeed, it was definitely the protagonist of the story tonight, if we dare say, with a cameo appearance by the SF institution known as The Tamale Lady.  Less dank and grimy than many of us initially envisioned (the bar, not The Tamale Lady), with a great open layout for everyone to gather but still move around, clusters of us morphed, mingled and mamboed with snake bites in hand, some of us with smuggled sausages from next door.

Knowing that everyone is pacing themselves so as to ensure they can go the distance this week, it was definitely one of our mellower evenings, and yet still our gang put the fun in funky (and by funky we don't mean The Meters kind of funk (though they could easily have scored the soundtrack to the evening), we mean "What the hell is this place...I kinda like it!!" kind of funky), with a good-sized group of 7b'ers staying further into the night than some of us who had school-night bedtimes.

In honor of a solid night 3 for 7B7N, we give a solid 3 cheers for Noc Noc.  See select pics below...

Some friends of friends of friends who stopped by.  THAT'S the magic of 7B7N...

"So then he says to me, 'Wait, SEVEN nights in a ROW?!  But why??'".  "So then what'd you say to HIM?" "I'm like, "I don't really know why!  But it's fun!"

The good looking couple in the middle officially professed their "boyfriend/girlfriend"edness tonight. Leave it to Noc Noc to turn on the romance....

Tamales!  Woot!

Hey there.  Is that a sausage in your...oh, nevermind.

<Insert witty caption here>

The bartender sportin' the Noc Noc gear.  This too can be yours if you call now!

Tribal bar-stools taller than many of the patrons

The patron saints of Noc Noc

Exhibit A:  These girls were perfectly normal upon stepping foot in Noc Noc

Exhibit B:  What the night can do to you.  (I love how the girl on the left is like, "Help me please, I don't know these people!")

The PDA couple.  After catching me take this picture they punched me in the ear and went back to making out.
7B'ers taking it to the next level and pumping themselves up for the remaining 4 nights...

Hey Magellan, Gimme Some of Your Tots!

On this dark and foggy summer's eve in San Francisco, a group of 25 or so intrepid 7B7N explorers...

made the long trek...made the long trek...made the long trek...

...out to the Crocker Amazon. They followed their maps and traveled through romantic European locales like Madrid, Paris, Vienna, and London before finally arriving at The Broken Record. Having worked up an appetite on their journey, many travelers headed straight to the Short Attention Span Kitchen and picked up some tasty eats, including these tots....

The food was good...the food was good...the food was good...

....although it was occasionally a bit aggressive.

Check out more scenic shots from the adventure here. The expedition continues tomorrow night at Noc Noc at 7:30 pm.

Taters!

On your marks, get set, 7B7N!

the sun gods were shining upon us today (even indoors!) as the 6th annual 7B7N got underway.  it was a multi-generational affair amongst the 40 of us who put in an appearance at Southern Pacific Brewing Company...including one little guy who we hope will be the host of the 26th annual 7B7N in the year 2032.  the ample selection of artisan beers, the copious quantities of garlic fries, and these ridiculously handsome mustachioed attendees provided just the Sunday afternoon start that makes for another terrific round of 7B7N.

check out all the photos here!

even though the 7B7N train has left the station, it's never too late to hop aboard!  join us tomorrow (Monday) evening at The Broken Record.  (remember, rally time is 7:30 pm!)  and if you're not quite sure where the heck the Crocker Amazon neighborhood is, then check out this trusty map for an easy-to-read graphical display of all of this year's 7B7N destinations.  see you there!
